The School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering has announced faculty promotions that will go into effect July 1.
A total of eight faculty members will receive promotions to full professor, associate professor, or senior lecturer.
“I’m so proud of all of our faculty, and I congratulate those who have earned promotions for their outstanding accomplishments,” said Raj Acharya, dean of SICE. “The dedication and vision of our faculty drives our leadership in so many different fields, and I continue to be impressed by the work being conducted at our school.”
Five faculty members received promotions to full professor. They include Professor of Informatics Shaowen Bardzell, Professor of Informatics and Computing Johan Bollen, Professor of Informatics Dennis Groth, Professor of Information Science Noriko Hara, and Professor of Informatics and Computing Yuzhen Ye.
Yong Yeol Ahn, meanwhile, has been granted tenure and promoted to associate professor of informatics and computing. Carol Choksy and Adeel Bhutta also have been promoted from lecturers to senior lecturers. Choksy is part of the information and library science program, while Bhutta works in the computer science department.
“The diverse areas these faculty represent is a clear sign of the breadth of our unique school,” said David Leake, executive associate dean of SICE. “This deserved milestone is an important next step for each of their careers, but it also reflects the school's vibrance through their remarkable contributions in research, teaching, and service.”
