Shoemaker Scholars

A $3,000 scholarship for IU student entrepreneurship ambassadors

The Shoemaker Scholars are a prestigious group of students from a variety of IU academic programs. They encourage entrepreneurship and innovation among IU Bloomington students.

This entrepreneurship scholarship is worth $3,000 for each year a scholar is selected. The scholarship provides students with experiences that help them grow as entrepreneurs and innovators.

The Shoemaker Scholars Program is funded by a generous gift from John and Donna Shoemaker.

What they do

Shoemaker Scholars foster innovation and entrepreneurship at IU Bloomington by:

  • Meeting weekly to develop and host activities
  • Managing the StartupIU website and newsletter
  • Collaborating with other IU entrepreneurship groups, like the Ideation and Creation Entrepreneurs (ICE)
  • Promoting opportunities for innovation at the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering

Eligibility

To apply to be a Shoemaker Scholar, you must:

  • Be an undergraduate student studying full time on the IU Bloomington campus
  • Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0
  • Have a GPA of at least 3.0 in your most recently completed semester
