Students interested in Human Computer Interaction or User Experience design have the opportunity to travel abroad to Newcastle upon Tyne in the United Kingdom. These students will be working with PhD students and Postdocs at Northumbria University and Newcastle University on the topic of Digital Civics, a sub-field of HCI that focuses on leveraging technologies to broaden citizen engagement with through local communities and regions.
Newcastle upon Tyne is the largest city in north-eastern England, residing right on the coast, with the beautiful river Tyne running through. Experience the historic city center, parks, gardens, museums, shopping cultural experiences and events. Escape the summer heat and enjoy the cool northern climate this summer.
The program is run in parallel, but separate, with Purdue University and the University of Lisbon. They will be sharing workspaces in the Universities of Northumbria and Newcastle University. While in Newcastle upon Tyne, students from all five universities will be working together on HCI and UX problems that are relevant to the local area.
