I am a professor in the School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering and director of the Virtual World Heritage Lab at Indiana University, Bloomington. From the end of the '90s, I began investigating optical 3D imaging with active and passive approaches, developing a broad research program devoted to 3D digitization for Cultural Heritage. The program includes topics such as 3D sensor fusion, sensor characterization and calibration, 3D data processing, digital twins in cultural heritage, digital restoration, multidisciplinary data integration for Virtual Heritage content production, information extraction from 3D data, and Virtual/Augmented museum applications.
