Rural Women’s Health: Investigating and Supporting Rural & Homebirth Pregnancy
As rural hospitals continue to close and access to care diminishes, maternal and infant mortality are on the rise, and women’s health is on the decline. In the healthcare journey lab, we empower women to engage with and understand their health over the course of their pregnancy. We take a human-centered approach to understanding our users and then designing, building, and evaluating user-facing interactive technologies. Students learn to collect qualitative and quantitative data; analyze those data; and then design, build, and evaluate interactive systems based on those data.
