Luddy Hall
Welcome to Luddy Hall, the innovative facility that became Luddy's new home when it opened in January 2018. The 124,000-square-foot facility features state-of-the-art maker labs, seven classrooms, our academic advising and career services offices, and a cafe.
Luddy prides itself on its collaborative spirit and cohesive culture, bolstered by the opening of the $42 million Luddy Hall. A teaching and research hub for students and faculty, Luddy Hall offers an innovation center supporting entrepreneurship, a community center devoted to Luddy's diversity programs, and gathering areas and meeting spaces to promote collaboration.

Admission to the Luddy School
As with most schools on the IU Bloomington campus, there are two paths to entering Luddy: Direct Admission and through University Division. Students who meet direct admission criteria enter Luddy at the start of their first semester at IU. Most incoming freshmen are admitted to University Division later and certify into Luddy after meeting their major's certification requirements.

What kind of laptop should I bring to Luddy?
Whatever you’re most comfortable using! Most classes are taught to work with both PCs and Macs; however, there are also many computer labs available in the Luddy buildings and across IU’s campus for your use. Luddy has no additional requirements or suggestions beyond IU’s general computer recommendations.

What software do I need at IU/Luddy?
There’s no need to buy anything you don’t already have. As an IU student, you are eligible for free downloads of the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, and antivirus products. Visit IUware to view other software available to you.
Scholarships
IU offers a lot of options for financial assistance, and the Luddy School offers scholarships exclusively for our directly admitted students. If you met Luddy's automatic direct admission criteria and applied before Nov. 1, you will receive our Selective Scholarship Application (SSA). The SSA will be used to determine some Luddy scholarship offers. We are looking for students whose application, transcript, and essay indicate academic excellence and demonstrated leadership skills who plan to use technology in their careers. Luddy Living Learning Center
Located in Teter Quad in the Central Neighborhood, the Luddy Living Learning Community is a great jump start to building your network at Indiana University. With its own dedicated Maker Space, the LLC engages students with top-of-the-line software and hardware, 3D printers, laser cutters, and more. Applications for the LLC open Feb. 1, 2021. To indicate interest in the LLC, please choose it as your first preference in the IU RPS Housing application. For questions regarding the LLC, please contact Tiana Iruoje.
What should I study or work on over the summer to prepare for my first semester at Luddy?
We have many students who come to Luddy with little to no technology experience, and that’s just fine! Our faculty will teach you all you need to know, even if you’re starting at the beginning. While nothing is expected or required, if you’d like to dive in, we recommend one of the many websites that reach programming skills, such as codeacademy.com or code.org.
